THERMAL DEER RECOVERY
How Thermal Deer Drone Recovery Works
At LURK DRONE INDUSTRIES, we use advanced thermal drone technology to help hunters recover deer quickly, efficiently, and ethically. When a deer runs after the shot, time matters. Our aerial thermal system gives you the best possible chance of a successful recovery.
1. Fast Deployment
As soon as you contact us, we mobilize. The sooner we’re in the air, the stronger the heat signature and the higher the success rate. Quick response is critical — especially in warm weather.
2. Aerial Thermal Scanning
Our professional-grade drone (DJI Matrice 4T) is equipped with a high-resolution thermal imaging camera that detects heat differences between the deer and its surroundings.
Unlike traditional tracking, we’re not relying solely on visible blood trails. Even in tall grass, swamps, or crop fields, thermal imaging can detect a deer’s body heat — even when it’s completely hidden from view. Just remember, dense foliage can be challenging even for a thermal drone. Although we will strive to do our best to recover your deer, please review the "Recovery Service Disclaimer" below.
3. Real-Time Target Identification
We conduct a structured flight pattern over the last known location, scanning for heat signatures. Live video allows us to immediately identify and confirm deer versus other wildlife.
If the deer is down, we mark it. If it’s still alive and bedded, we advise you of the last known area of the deer via GPS cooridinates. (All drone operations must be ceased prior to attempted recovery of alive deer)
4. GPS Marking & Guided Recovery
Once located, we drop precise GPS coordinates and guide you directly to the deer. No endless grid walking. No pushing the animal farther. Just efficient, accurate recovery.

At LURK DRONE INDUSTRIES, our mission is simple: help hunters recover their deer responsibly and efficiently using cutting-edge aerial thermal technology.
We Take Laws and Hunting Regulations Very Seriously
LURK DRONE INDUSTRIES operates in full compliance with the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) and the Ohio Administrative Code. Our drone is strictly a recovery tool — never a hunting tool.
Under Ohio Administrative Code 1501:31-15-02 (B)(4), drones may be used only to aid in the recovery of a deer after the taking has occurred, provided no one involved is in possession of a hunting device. If a deer is found alive, drone operations must stop before hunting resumes.
Our Legal Recovery Protocol
To ensure full compliance:
-
Your hunt must be complete before we deploy.
-
No bows, firearms, or hunting implements may be carried during recovery.
-
All hunting equipment must be properly stored.
-
Our mission is RECOVERY ONLY — not locating live game for pursuit.
-
If a deer is alive, we immediately discontinue drone use.
-
Landowner permission is required for recovery on private property.
-
All state hunting laws and regulations must be followed at all times.
We take compliance seriously and will not participate in any violation of Ohio hunting laws. You will be required to show a valid ODNR Hunting License and valid ODNR Deer Permit prior to drone operations.
When you call LURK DRONE INDUSTRIES, you can trust that your recovery is handled professionally, ethically, and 100% within the law.
Recovery Service Disclaimer
At LURK DRONE INDUSTRIES, we utilize advanced thermal drone technology and proven search methods to assist in the recovery of wounded or downed deer. While our equipment and experience significantly increase the chances of a successful recovery, recovery is not guaranteed.
Thermal detection effectiveness can be affected by several factors including, but not limited to:
-
Time elapsed since the shot
-
Weather conditions (rain, wind, temperature, humidity)
-
Terrain and vegetation density
-
Water submersion or heavy cover
-
Animal movement after the shot
-
Loss of thermal signature over time
Our team will make every reasonable and professional effort to locate your deer using legal, ethical, and compliant recovery practices. However, by engaging our services, you acknowledge that outcomes cannot be promised or guaranteed.
Payment covers our time, deployment, equipment use, and professional recovery efforts — not a guaranteed find.
We are committed to giving every call our absolute best effort and operating with integrity, transparency, and respect for the hunt
DEER HERD ANALYSIS
Deer Herd Analysis
Accurate. Efficient. Non-Invasive.
Understanding deer movement, population density, and seasonal patterns is essential for property owners, land managers, hunting lease holders, and wildlife management planning. Our Drone Deer Herd Analysis service provides high-resolution aerial data to help you make informed decisions about herd health, habitat usage, and land strategy — without disturbing the animals.
Using advanced drone technology, we safely and efficiently survey your property from above to deliver clear visual insights and documented observations.
What’s Included in Our Herd Analysis Package
Our standard herd analysis package includes two scheduled flight operations per season to give you a more complete view of herd behavior:
-
One flight in Early Fall
Monitor pre-rut movement patterns, feeding areas, and herd size before hunting season. -
One flight in Early Spring
Assess post-winter survival rates, herd distribution, and habitat impact.
This seasonal comparison provides valuable insight into changes in herd numbers, travel corridors, and bedding zones throughout the year.
What You Receive
-
Professional drone flight operations over designated property areas
-
High-resolution aerial imagery
-
Documented deer sightings and herd grouping observations
-
Property coverage focused on food plots, bedding areas, and travel corridors
-
Organized media files for your records
Every property is unique, and we are willing to work with our clients to best suit their specific needs. Whether you require additional coverage areas, custom scheduling, or specialized focus zones, we will tailor the operation to meet your goals.

Deer Herd Analysis Waiver & Disclaimer
Our Deer Herd Analysis service is designed to provide clients with informed estimates and documented aerial observations of deer activity on their property. While we use professional drone equipment and proven flight methods to gather accurate data, the results of any wildlife survey cannot be guaranteed to be exact.
1. Wildlife Movement
Deer are free-ranging wild animals and may move during drone operations. Herd counts and observations represent the animals visible at the time of flight and are not guaranteed to reflect the total population present on the property.
2. Environmental Limitations
Certain environmental conditions may impact visibility and detection accuracy, including but not limited to:
-
Thick woods or dense timber
-
Heavy foliage or seasonal vegetation
-
Tall grasses or brush
-
Weather conditions
-
Lighting conditions
These factors may limit line-of-sight visibility and reduce the ability to detect all animals within the surveyed area.
3. Estimate-Based Reporting
All herd counts, movement observations, and seasonal comparisons provided are professional estimates based on aerial imagery collected during scheduled flight operations. They should be used as informational tools and not as definitive wildlife population guarantees.
4. No Guarantee of Exact Population Count
We will make every reasonable effort to provide the most accurate assessment possible; however, exact deer population numbers cannot be guaranteed due to the natural behavior of wildlife and environmental variables beyond our control.
